USS Reuben James (FFG 57)
An aerial view of the U.S. Navy guided missile frigate USS Reuben James (FFG 57). Frigates fulfill a protection of shipping (POS) mission as Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) combatants for amphibious expeditionary forces, underway replenishment groups and merchant convoys. Rueben James is a part of the USS Abraham Lincoln Battle group and is on a scheduled six-month deployment conducting combat missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. CNS Esmeralda (BE 43)
The Chilean Navy training ship CNS Esmeralda (BE 43) pulls into Pearl Harbor for a scheduled port call before starting Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2006. Eight nations are participating in RIMPAC, the world's largest biennial maritime exercise. Conducted in the waters off Hawaii, RIMPAC brings together military forces from Australia, Canada, Chile, Peru, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. The U.S. Navy delivered two P-302 and P-303 35-meter patrol boats to the Iraqi navy Umm Qasr naval facility Jan. 26. The vessels are the second and third such craft to be delivered to the Iraqi navy as part of a planned 15-ship foreign military sales case managed by the Support Ships, Boats and Craft Program Office in the U.S. Navy Program Executive Office Ships.
